Rock Chip Paint Touchup
We order the matching paint color and fill in all rock chips to improve appearance and protect exposed metal to prevent rust problems down the road. Paint touchup will still leave a “scar” where the chip or deep scratch was but it will make it less visible from a distance. For a smooth factory finish on heavily chipped panels or bumpers you may consider repainting.
Keep in mind, some deeper isolated random scratches are not worth removing from your paint’s clear coat. Machine polishing your paint is essentially removing clear coat to level out your paint surface in order to remove or make defects less visible. Your vehicle’s clearcoat is a limited resource and any clearcoat removed through the process of paint correction will never come back. Therefore our job as professional detailers is not only to make your paint look better, but also doing it while removing the least amount of paint possible. We always measure the thickness of your paint in order to assess how much material we have to work with and decide if it is safe to go after certain defects. Scratches that are past the clearcoat require paint touchup or a full panel repaint.
