One of the hacks that is popular out there for headlight restoration that you should avoid is using bug spray. While this will make your headlights appear clear, the deet in the bug spray is actually chemically melting the plastic and will make the surface sticky and tacky. If you touch it with your finger you could leave your finger prints imprinted into the headlights. The over spray of the product landing on other painted or plastic surfaces could also affect any protection on them or damage them long term by softening your paint.
